Save the purebred dog breeds from extinction

Save the purebred dog breeds from extinction

PETITION

To the Legislative Assembly of Victoria and Legislative Committee.

The Petition of

"registered" dog breeders, members of Dogs Victoria, purebred hobbyist, residents and rate payers of Victoria.

draws to the attention of the House Of Paliment Victoria.

We are petitioning the implimentation of the inclusion of Pure Breed, registered dog breeders and exhibitors of Dogs Victoria in the Andrews Parliment 2016 and the exclusion of Dogs Victoria affiliation with the parliment.

The registered members of Dogs Victoria (which is affiliated with the Australian National Kennel Council code of ethics found here, http://ankc.org.au/AboutUs/?subId=2406&id=1078 ) have for years followed the code of ethics of dog breeding and the keeping of dogs with Dogs Victoria, which can be found using this link.  http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/AboutUs/ConstitutionRulesRegs.aspx We also abide by the the Domestic private animal keeping with the DPI Victoria.

The inclusion of the Purebred dogs and its breeders in Victoria will see the extinction of the purebred dog within Australia. No where in Australia will a family be able to have or locate a purebred dog. Many registered breeders will no longer breed their loved breed due to financial restraints of this Amendment bill, therefore will see the minimal genetic gene pool amongst the Purebred dog, which will see more hereditary diseases being breed and eventually the extinction of many breeds, for many years the breeders of purebred dogs have been trying to expand genetic gene pools and working extremely hard in this matter.

The purebred dog breeders breed for the health and continuance of their breed, they have great relationships with their veterinary clinics and seek veterinary attention when required. They test breeding stock for hereditary diseases prior to breeding and take affected animals out of breeding programs. They supply lifetime support to new homes and supply purebred puppies with full paperwork and vaccinations and microchipping.

The purebreed dog owners and breeders understand the large scale of illegal, unregistered puppy mills and disagree with this cruelty. We are also fully aware that most rescue dogs and dogs in pounds are from those of puppy mills/unregistered breeders and cross breeds.

Registered members of Dogs Victoria will always take their dogs back and re home them rather than being in a pound or rescue.

The purebred dog members, are not these puppy mills and therefore request the parliament to disassociate us with this amendment bill, Domestic Animal amendment (pet shops and puppy mills) 2016.

We follow our code of ethics with great importance, it is against our code of ethics to supply puppies to pet shops and no registered member of Dogs Victoria does this.

We also wish for parliament to re establish themselves with The organisation Dogs Victoria and the Australian National Kennel Council.

The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Assembly of Victoria

1. Disassociate Dogs Victoria members, registered breeders of Dogs Victoria from its bill, Domestic Animal Amendment (pet shops and puppy mills) 2016, being put forward and tabled Wednesday 26th of October 2016.

2. We request parliment re establish its renewal with Dogs Victoria, to enable a continence of association with the Victorian Government. To encourage council registrations along with other important matters.

3. That the Parliment save the continuance of the Purebred dog for many years in the future.
