We are demanding that Montgomery Public School Superintendent and Board of Education Members NOT consolidate GW Carver HS and Lanier HS. Supt. Thompson's proposal is a tactic used to promulgate in re-segregating schools. Insult over injury she is Black. The Oppressed is now the Oppressor.

On Tuesday, January 18, 2011 Superintendent Barbara Thompson told the Community that this was just a rumor. MPS BOE Member Mary Briers said that as long as she is on the Board this won't ever happen. 

Superintendent Barbara Thompson's proposal to consolidate these two schools is causing a major concern for the safety of students as well as room to accomodate the students, faculty, and staff.  In addition her proposal to allow Seniors to come to school at flex times ie.10am, Noon is ludacris! 

These two schools have a long history of tradition and love of their own. Their is a healthy rivalry and competitiveness of these schools that we don't want to carry over into violence. If she did her homework she would know that her proposal is not good. She closed 8 neighborhood schools already making other schools overcrowded which has caused more school violence. It is in the best interest of the students that these two schools remain separate but equal.
