Hello Walnut Grove, The News Release has gone out, the food is ready, the mayor is coming, at least one councilor is coming, AND NOW WE NEED YOU to show your support, eat some pancakes, and have some family fun! (My wife is bringing out the under 5 roller coaster rain or shine) This is a media event to raise awareness that the TOL, the Provincial Government, and the Federal Government are all pushing this Interchange through against the Walnut Grove Official Community Plan. The implications are the health and safety of our children and seniors from accidents, air pollution, and noise pollution. Our community wasn't designed for this interchange, we invested in our current OCP and we need a public input process to change the current OCP to something that would support the changes proposed BEFORE the government wastes any more taxpayers dollars. I keep hearing that this was in the plans for 25 years. The facts are that the OCP for Walnut Grove did not plan for 216th to be a Highway 1 connector, even in the latest version of the OCP online, see BL1836 (https://1drv.ms/b/s!ApPAM3Xr8ig6lFaxZ2rvzj2F-gh_) . Here is a report about the Cottonwood Connector Fraser River crossing, and it clearly states a connection at 217th and not 216th (https://1drv.ms/b/s!ApPAM3Xr8ig6lRGFpXqUDpq3oFIt) . Please BYO Chairs, kids, and park off of 216th St. Rain or Shine, pancakes, eggs, juice and coffee are provided on a first come first serve basis, so don't be late. :) To help us make the right number of pancakes, please RSVP by pressing the "GOING" Button below the photo at https://www.facebook.com/events/1760511627522395/ and find more details and discussion on our site at www.facebook.com/ourwalnutgrove. We will be taking lots of photos for social media awareness so feel free to bring your smart phones ready for social media action. Some rally signs are provided, but we encourage you to make your own. Agenda: 8:30-10AM --> Breakfast, Photos, media interviews and Social Media Blitz 10AM --> March down 216th to the Elementary Schools If you know any social media enthusiasts who are great on Facebook and Twitter, bring them and their smart phones to tweet and FB with our elected officials! Thanks for everyone's support, Families for a safer, healthier Walnut Grove.
