Should the TOL be held accountable to the WG Official Community Plan?

As I prepare for the Family Rally and Breakfast on Saturday 8:30AM, I reviewed in detail the Official Community Plan (OCP) for Walnut Grove. This document is the guiding principles from which our community is/was to be developed. It is how we can rest assured that a slaughter-house or 20 story high-rise wont be built next door, and is governed by the BC Municipal Act. The OCP for Walnut Grove can be found on the www.TOL.ca website under BL1836. To change an OCP requires our input, and is a well defined public process. The photo attached to this email is the map from the Walnut Grove OCP. Here are the 3 areas that the 216th Interchange plan is not in alignment with the OCP. 1. In the OCP, 216th St from HWY 1 to 88th Ave is designated as a Minor Collector Route. The proposed 216th Interchange on HWY 1 and 4 laning of 216th could only be defined as an Arterial Road connecting WG with Williams and HWY 1. By comparison, a small portion of Telegraph Trail and 86A Crescent are also considered Minor Collector Route. 2. In the OCP, the land at the corner of 216th and Hwy 1 is a designated as a Conservation Area. Isn’t that in the interchange plan to provide an onramp to Highway 1? Can OCP designated Conservation Area’s be expropriated for roads? 3. The OCP contemplates an overpass over Highway 1 to link WG with the Municipal road system, the map shows that overpass is designated on 208th St. but nothing designated on 216th St. The TOL elected officials have all been invited to the Family Rally by one of your many hard working neighbours. She has word that the Mayor will show up at 8:30 for 30 minutes. Please make a plan to attend the event and show the elected officials that we don’t want the OCP changed without our input, its our Walnut Grove!
