For the current updated status of COVID-19 in Grenada please take a look at the below information and check the mentioned websites:
- Information about COVID-19 was accessible on the Ministry of Health of Grenada (covid19.gov.gd). It is not accessible to check recent rising COVID-19 cases anymore!!
- The only available source is on Facebook of the Grenada Ministry of Health: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=348395064148913&set=a.181926647462423&type=3 On June 4th -based on the Grenada government data showed 8 COVID hospitalizations, 26.3% test positivity (more info on the link).
- According to 2 sources, the population of Grenada is 113,475. Almost every 1 out of 5 people was COVID positive until July 7th.
- Four deaths in June; 99 new cases just for July 5th. The number of cases is rising in July 2022. For updated daily information, visit: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/grenada/
- CDC increased the caution for travelers to Grenada from level 1 to level 3. If you have a weakened immune system or are at increased risk for severe disease, even if you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines, talk with your clinician about your risk, and consider delaying travel to Grenada. For Updated info, visit: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-3/coronavirus-grenada
- The daily COVID cases information is also available at many other websites, such as the below: https://weather.com/coronavirus/l/St.+George's+Saint+George+Grenada?canonicalCityId=dbbe3b581c59e7ce3c768aea7dfd1027c646e3f5f4896e9dc77463850e73726c
- According to the Johns Hopkins University data, only 34.21% of the population are fully vaccinated in Grenada: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/region/grenada
- If the student campus population is approximately 8000 people, with about 5000 being foreign students, there would be a rate of more than 500 breakthrough cases with the new Omicron variant. On an island with only less than 50 ICU beds and less than 20 ventilators, students are put into an unsafe situation. If you consider this data alongside the number of unvaccinated citizens of Grenada (65.79%), the risk of causing this island to be a disastrous condition for the students is high.
