who strongly oppose President-elect Donald Trump’s hateful rhetoric, behavior, and dangerous targeting of marginalized groups: unite. This is a call to hands. This is a call to pens!

Though the election results likely cannot be changed, if we are stuck with this person as President we can at least demonstrate to him, other elected officials, our society, and the world that hate and prejudice will not be tolerated in our country. The xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, racism (especially against Mexican-Americans, but not limited to this group), anti-Semitism, and ableism espoused and fostered by Donald Trump and his campaign is unprecedented and unacceptable for an American candidate for any political office, let alone the presidency, in the year 2016.

We must make our voices heard and ensure that this is a precedent that will never be set. Furthermore, the nation has elected a man who has boasted about using his privileged status to commit sexual violence without repercussion.

Throughout the campaign, Trump actively worked to restrict press access and was often successful in that endeavor. During the Republican Primary, he vowed to “open up” libel laws in order to make it easier for him to sue news organizations, an integral source for information in any democracy. At Trump’s rallies, inspired by his perpetual claims of a biased, elitist media, reporters have routinely been heckled, bullied, and even threatened with derogatory names and actions.

Again, it is imperative that we show him and the world that this behavior will never be embraced.

By signing this petition, you signify your vehement opposition to the hateful words and actions of Donald Trump. There is too much at stake not to stand up now.
