Le problème

The United Nations building has been in New York City since its inception in 1945. This location was chosen for a variety of reasons, including accessibility and international recognition. Since then, many things have changed. Globalization has made numerous locations accessible and recognized worldwide. One suitable alternative could be Montreal, the second-largest city in Canada. The city is known for its cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and multilingual atmosphere - characteristics that echo the vision of the United Nations. Montreal also has established its reputation as a hub for international organizations, hosting ICAO, UNESCO and ILO among others. In 1967, International and Universal Exposition (Expo'67)  in Montreal was the most popular fair in history. 64 million people visited Montreal that summer. In 2007 the federal government proposed this project to the UN. Plans were made by an important architecture company. Silo #5 area in the old port of Montreal was selected as the perfect place for this new UN headquarters.  Moving the UN headquarters to Montreal would bring a fresh perspective, advocating for a more globally representative location compared to the current US-centric one. The new American administration does not deserve to have the UN building on its territory since it does not believe in international cooperation and The United States owes the most to the UN. According to UN sources, the US owes $1.1 billion to the UN's regular budget for 2023 and 2024 plus additional arrears.

 It's time for a change.
