Many of us have been impacted by the school year ending on June 2nd, disrupting summer school schedules and family vacations. It is essential to make a valuable change. The extension of the academic year into June significantly affects the planning and execution of summer programs, often throwing them into disarray. This late end-date is also problematic for families planning vacations, as it leaves less time for travel and relaxation before the new academic year begins. It has been identified that breaks, like summer holidays, contribute to better mental health for students and provide them with opportunities to engage in non-academic growth (Stanford University, 2015). Moving the school year's end to May 27th from June 2nd is a genuine need that will not only support students' overall well-being but also assist families in making the most out of their summers.
