The Maritime Museum of BC has a comprehensive plan to move into the Steamship Terminal Building in Victoria's Inner Harbour. Since its move out of Bastion Square in 2015, the Maritime Museum of BC has been in a small store front facility where its exhibits and programs have been limited, while the collection is stored off site.

Moving the Maritime Museum of BC into the Steamship Terminal Building will give it a water front location to offer new activities for locals and tourists, making it a cultural gem for downtown Victoria. This will help raise the tourism profile of Victoria and give locals more cultural based activities to do. 

This decision is up to the Provincial Government, who owns the building.
