May 9, 2022 Updates: Sound Transit received 5,000 comments on the DEIS by April 28, the City contributing 1,500.

Sound Transit has requested a one month extension to analyze the comments before presenting its DEIS report.

This request pushes out the timeline for the following process:

  • Mayor’s Office drafts City Resolution on which alternatives are its preferred routes
  • Draft City Resolution sent to City Transportation Committee (highlighted yellow below) for discussion and further work
  • Draft resolution sent to full council for discussion, amendment, vote
  • City resolution published and sent to Sound Transit

Sound Transit Board confirms, modifies or has staff come up with something not yet considered on preferred routes.

When the new dates for above are known, we will publish them here.

A group of us (varies) have been meeting with Seattle City Council/KC Council members or their staff to urge them to choose the 4th Avenue route or an unstudied alternative rather than 5th Avenue. We have other meetings scheduled for this month. We also have made regular public comments at ST Board meetings and at the City Transportation Committee meetings.

  • Ask relatives and friends in cities that have a county exec, county council member(s), a mayor, a city council member on the ST board to do the same. See list below.
  • Emails can be in any language people feel comfortable writing in. Translations will be made when received.
