Provide promised warranty to bootloader unlocked devices
Provide promised warranty to bootloader unlocked devices
The Issue
Motorola Mobility is famous for innovation at a fast pace than any other company in the world! They're the inventors of the mobile phone! The Moto G is an exceptional phone at an exceptional price, but however, the bootloader stands locked on the device. Just merely requesting an unlock code voids the device's warranty, isn't that unfair? When we're buying a device for its full price, it means the right and title of the movable property is transferred to its buyer. Now, for a second just imagine, you buy a piece of land, and when you go to build a house on it, the seller says I don't owe any duty or liability to you now even if the land was defective. How would you feel like? That's exactly what's happening here. Problems relating to manufacturing defects should be covered under warranty under any circumstances when there is no relation with bootloader unlocking or sideloading custom ROMs. The Consumer Protection Act, 1986, Section 2(1)(r)(viii) defines this type of warranty as 'unfair trade practice', where Motorola is excluding themselves of any liability for replacement without reasonability. Please help this petition be as success and role model for other companies!
