Remove Rat Poison from Totnes Morrisons Supermarket

Remove Rat Poison from Totnes Morrisons Supermarket

The Issue

Consequences of rat poison:

  • Rat poison has been linked to a decrease in the number of birds of prey (including barn owls and Kestrels)
  • The use of poison for other animals is outlawed for its known knock-on effects to other species

Recently, Totnes Morrisons has introduced Rat Poison to their shelves. By doing so, they are not only sending rats to their cruel death, but they are also inadvertently killing:

  • Wildlife
  • Cats
  • Dogs
  • Owls
  • Birds of Prey
  • Kestrels
  • Cows
  • Horses

Animals such as dogs, cats, and birds of prey, that feed on poisoned rodents, are then poisoned themselves.

I have cats myself, and it is worrying to think that this is such a horrifying possibility. One of my cats was poisoned because of a neighbour's obsession to eliminate the rat population.

There is a 24/7 Rat Poison helpline for cats, dogs, horses, birds and cows.
