"LDS Senior Leaders" acknowledge the need for more to be done to prevent suicide in the LDS Church by launching a "Preventing Suicide Website", a meaningful step by LDS Leaders for which The Stop It Foundation endorses. With suicide being the number one cause of death for Utah children ages 10 to 17, it is a subject they could no longer ignore.
In their comments while introducing the new website, they signaled they wanted "increased healthy dialogue" and for the community to "take action to become informed on this subject". While honoring their own words as mentioned here, The Stop It Foundation is confident they will find the truths and suggestions found in our petition are needed to reduce teen suicide within the LDS Church. The truth will persuade LDS Leaders to change to a policy that realizes that the money saved reducing "Liability Concerns" is not worth the serious damaged caused to children resulting from abuse, that prevention is better than a coverup after serious abuse occurs. Only meaningful policy change will reduce teen suicide in the LDS Church.
We must move forward on this petition in helping LDS Leaders honor their word to pursue "increased healthy dialogue" and taking "action to become informed on this subject" of suicide. Your continued support to help us spread the conversation LDS Leaders now also seek will be the difference in bringing about a change that protects vulnerable children.
Thanks again for your support,
