The Whittier Narrows Natural Area and Nature Center in the city South El Monte, California is a historic wildlife sanctuary on the San Gabriel River between the Montebello and Puente Hills. It is home to endangered species and native plants. The San Gabriel Discovery Center is a $30 million project, which includes the building of a 14,000 square foot building, a 116-car parking lot, and other structures, that will demolish the existing Nature Center and its surrounding habitat. Our petition will get rid of project and save the community tax payer money. The park offers free public services for the community which will also be destroyed if the project we are against goes in to affect. Apart from wildlife the project will also destroy sacred land from the Native Americas Kizh Nation/Gabrieleno. This problem will hurt the endangered species and waste water in a current drought season as well as damage the community.
