According to FOX News there’s currently 6 coronavirus cases in riverside as of 3/09/20 (less than 20 minutes away). Meanwhile, in LA County, 20 cases and 1 fatality as of 3/11/20 (about an hour away). This airborne virus can easily come to contact and target one of the students. All students inhale and interact in close areas. We are elbow to elbow in classrooms, increasing chances of infection. We are around many other students and faculty that are sneezing and coughing, that alone is a high risk of being vulnerable to this virus. Us having to open multiple doors hourly to get to class and touch the same utilities is becoming too much germ spreading, we need to be cautious. There’s an increase of caution and awareness in this epidemic. For example, the NBA was cancelled, states/counties are denying access to go in, and universities canceling school to online, all due to this virus. Everyone is making a difference to protect one another. So our school district should take part in this action by closing down the schools, due to being so close to multiple cases. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
