More trees to be planted by local councils
More trees to be planted by local councils
The Issue
My name is Sienna and I’m 7 years old. I believe there should be more trees in local parks and towns. Having looked around my local area and others where my family live, there are lots of green spaces with big grass areas but I do not think they are used enough and if more trees were planted then this would be better for the environment, by helping to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and create cleaner air. Trees would increase biodiversity in green spaces and eventually creating small woodland plots to be explored.
As part of a Brownie badge I needed to start a petition and I strongly believe in doing what I can towards helping the world in which we live. We should all be doing what we can to help the planet we live in and planting trees and being able to create more of an environmentally friendly place to live is a small step we can all take. Looking on council websites, they list many initiatives but I have not seen anything that really talks about improving green spaces. Bristol is one of the few councils who have done great things by getting all primary children to plant a tree for instance, and everybody lives within a short distance of a green space. If all councils took this initiative and encouraged people to be aware of the concrete jungles they live in then more change could be made.
