After several cases of animal abuse and neglect  in the Mid Ohio Valley I am asking that the people who have shown cruelty or neglect  to animals be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  The people who abuse or neglect animals need to be given more than a slap on the wrist.   New laws need to be made to protect animals from abuse and neglect.  A national registry needs to be created with the information of people who abuse and neglect animals. This registry needs to be made available to the humane societies and the public.  The latest case of abuse was done to a 7 week old puppy that is now paralyzed and may never walk again.  After the Humane Society of Parkersburg (HSOP)  received a report  about  Trotter the HSOP took quick action and rescued Trotter. He  is now in the care of the rescue group Pitties and Purrs.  He is getting excellent care and he got his wheelchair yesterday so he is now able to run like a puppy should be able to do.  If anybody would like to donate money to help with his  long term care please contact go the facebook page Trotter Boy .  He will need several more wheelchairs as he gets older.  His abuser Tammara Briggs was arrested but she was out of jail shortly after that . Her bond was set at $4,000 which meant that she only had to pay $400.00.  Her court date was postponed until May to ensure a stronger prosecution.  She needs to be held accountable for her actions and not only spend a long time  in jail she needs to be made to pay restitution for the care of Casper now named Trotter.  She needs to be  monitored and never be allowed to ever own another animal.  Another case of animal neglect was against Atticus a dog who was near starvation when he was rescued. J. Kent Hobbs should have received a stronger punishment than community service and he can never own another animal. Before Trotter's abuse case a man named Charles Cottrill  abused his dog named Bud who is now named Trooper . Charles also  abused his former girlfriend .  His trial date has not been set .  We need to be the voice of the innocent animals and speak up for them .
