Support High School Flying the Black Lives Matter Flag

This petition made change with 1,790 supporters!

The Montpelier Vermont Board of School Commissioners at the request of the Montpelier High School student led Racial Justice Alliance courageously decided to allow the Black Lives Matter flag to be flown at the high school this February during Black History Month.  Now, members of the Board, the school principal and others at the school are receiving threats, hate mail and hate phone calls from various racist groups and individuals.  The Board is in a tough position, and we are afraid they may rescind their decision to fly the flag believing it is too dangerous for the students and faculty.  Please sign this petition to show the Board that you support them in staying with their decision to fly the flag.  By showing your support you will encourage them and others to take courageous stands to support people of color and other marginalized folks.
