Good Evening Supporters.. This evening I spoke at the Montgomery County School board meeting about starting the discussion again of addressing the issue of retiring the Indian mascot. I shared this picture of African American man wearing a shirt with a mascot of a Caucasian man. I pointed out that was appropriate. I’m in this fight for the long haul. I’m seeking support for a congressional bill. As we engage in conversations of Diversity, equity and Inclusion as leaders, we need to show some action. Participating in cultural programming once a year is not enough. We need to educate all year long to gain and assimilate true history of Native Americans in our schools.
