- Honor! As I reflect over the years of Native Americans protesting about how dishonorable it is to have their race, culture, rituals, etc dishonored to a mascot of sports teams. Mascots are traditionally animals or symbols that represent the area or town of the team. My Native American friend explained it best before I did the petition. “Usually their reasoning is they think they are honoring my people but our definition of honor is not their definition of honoring.
