Don't Kill Montgomery County Geese

The Issue

Montgomery County wants to kill 300 geese that are living in the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Park. This is not humane at all, we shouldn't mess with these geese. Yes. I understand that they are becoming a tad overpopulated, which is becoming a problem. But who are we to go off killing other animals so we feel more 'comfortable' walking around a recreational park. A recreational park is for protection of wildlife and natural habitats. Why name it a recreational park when Montgomery County will be defeating the entire purpose of the name? Montgomery County shouldn't just focus on the negative effects the Canadian Geese have, but also the positive. They play a major role in dispensing seeds throughout the park. They help to fertilize the group with nutrients. Yes, their feces aren't pleasant, but it helps the ground become healthier. Canadian Geese are also part of the food chain. Many animals depend on that population of geese to eat What Montgomery County is doing isn't right at all. If Montgomery County still has no choice but to kill the Geese, at least compromise with the community on what to do. We are the community, we are affected by this also. Find different, and more humane ways to deal with the overpopulation of the geese that doesn't involve murder. OR don't do anything at all, the park is their home. Who are we to remove animals from their home just because we have the power to do so? Take a stand for what you believe in and share this.
