Monterey Bay Aquarium: Take Fish off the Menu!

Monterey Bay Aquarium: Take Fish off the Menu!
The Issue
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is an awesome place to learn about the beauty and wonder of our oceans, and to appreciate the astonishing diversity of living creatures which inhabit them.
What's more, after learning about the unique importance of each ocean animal and the urgent need to protect them, you can enjoy some of those same animals, chopped up and grilled in a burrito or taco, in the Aquarium Cafe.
It is absurd that an organization which claims to be dedicated to the protection of ocean life does not recognize the hypocrisy of serving dead sea animals to the public.
We must understand that our oceans are dying. Humans kill between 1 to 3 TRILLION wild fish every year. At this rate, our oceans may be nearly empty of fish by 2050. Yet the Monterey Bay Aquarium continues to promote the myth of "Sustainable Seafood." The truth is that there is no such thing.
In a world headed towards fishless oceans, no seafood is "sustainable." Keeping every fish in the ocean matters.
It is also problematic that the Aquarium serves chicken, bacon, cheese, and grass fed beef: each of these products directly contributes to the demise of our oceans. Nearly one-third of ocean caught fish are ground-up and fed to livestock animals to fatten them up. These animals then create vast amounts of manure, which runs off into the oceans, creating lifeless "dead zones" where no creatures can survive. And "grass fed" beef is no panacea either: it is a leading source of methane emissions, therefore contributing to climate change, an issue with devastating impacts on all ocean life.
To the Monterey Bay Aquarium: It's time to take fish off your menu, and replace them with plant-based menu items. And if you truly want to lead by example, get rid of the cows, pigs, chickens, and other animal products on the menu too. Show the world that you are serious about ocean conservation, by making your menu 100% plant-based.
