Montclair State Trustees - Create a Technology Education teacher preparation program
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
In 1996 Montclair State decided to close the doors to the program that led to Technology Education K-12 teacher certification in New Jersey.
Since that time, the need for teachers in this highly hands on area has remained steady. And the surge of STEM programs at the middle and high school levels has exacerbated the need. We simply need more programs and students engaging in projects such as those depicted in the attached video and Technology Education teachers can lead the way.
The profession needs well over 100 new teachers every year to keep up with retirements and new program development. The existing state programs at TCNJ and NJIT/Rutgers don't come close to meeting this demand.
Montclair State should easily be able to reintroduce a new program. It can be a program option linked to the Industrial Design program, or created to work closely with the Science education program on campus.
