American Sign Language in Montclair School District

The Issue

Language is an option, the ability to hear is not. Our hope is to get American Sign Language (A.S.L.) recognized as a language course in the Montclair School District. Students deserve a way to learn how to communicate with the deaf population. With the chance to learn ASL in school, we would be able to include a new group of students to the conversation and begin to normalize the idea of communicating with people unlike yourself. We hope that American Sign Language will, also, be able to fulfill language requirements for graduation.
