Tell Monster Beverage Corporation to Stop Supporting Professional Bull Riding Events
The Issue
Monster Beverage Corporation, maker of the popular Monster Energy drink and other brands, is a prominent sponsor of Professional Bull Riders (PBR) events involving the exploitation and abuse of animals.
It is because of the support of huge companies like Monster Beverage Corporation that the PBR continues to thrive under the guise that bull riding is a sport. It's time to tell Monster Beverage Corporation that we will no longer support their brands unless they stop sponsoring bull riding.
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION AND CALL 800-426-7367. ASK FOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND TELL THEM YOU WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE MONSTER PRODUCTS UNTIL THEY STOP SUPPORTING PBR.
PBR and Monster both frequently refer to both riders and bulls as athletes, as if this is somehow honoring the animals. If you forced a human into a tiny pen, prodded and stuck him with painful spikes, and treated him like an object, referring to him as an athlete would do little to mitigate his suffering. In truth, these animals are slaves who are bred into existence through forceful insemination and worked like machines throughout their short lives until they are killed.
Bulls are fitted with flank straps, kicked with spurs, and shocked with electric prods that deliver up to 5,000 volts. These animals do not naturally buck or run around frantically – they’re acting how any animal who is being electrocuted and stabbed would react.
The bulls are injured in and out of the ring, suffering from broken legs and torn ligaments, broken necks, ruptured organs, and cardiac arrest. When a severe injury happens to a bull, he is usually killed, because it is simply not worth it to people in this industry to pay for his veterinary care or rehabilitation.
“Culture” and “tradition” are no reason to continue to abuse animals in this way. Cowboys and ranchers aren’t the victims here – the nonhuman animals who are bred into existence to be absued by them are. When the money stops flowing into events like these, they will gradually come to a close. An increasingly “woke” public is starting to reject violent, antiquated events like rodeos and bullfighting. It’s important that Monster Beverage Corporation takes a step toward the right side of history now.
