Coach Hunter Brown was suspended from coaching for the 2021-2022 school year for using profanity around a student. He is/was head coach for the baseball team and assistant coach for the football team. Coach Brown is an excellent coach, teacher and mentor!! He goes above and beyond to make each child feel they are important!! He showed up to support his players that played Baseball during the summer and the ones who made All Stars. He comes out of his pocket to feed kids that don’t have money to eat after the games, provides refreshments during clean up days, cuts & maintains the field himself, not to mention all the other things he goes out of his way to do for our kids! I can understand why he got mad and used a curse word to get the kids attention! He has basically devoted his free time to coach and make sure the fields are taken care of. Then these kids get out there at practice half-stepping and not paying attention. Also, I’m pretty sure the children talk and listen to music/movies & probably their parents with way more vulgar vocabulary than what was said that day. A year long coaching suspension was too extreme of a punishment for this incident! I feel this decision was made unfairly and without all the other students in mind. Did the Board take the time to interview the other players and ask their opinion of the Coach and the way he treats them?Did they ask the other parents? This matter needs to be revisited and the punishment reversed immediately.
