This petition is presented for your review from concerned citizens of the Monacan Indian Nation.  We hope that you, as an active citizen of the Nation, will support our call to action by providing us your signature.
 
The Monacan Indian Nation is currently in a state of collapse, being recently awarded federal recognition.  The former and current leadership, through unratified means, have isolated the tribal government to a 50 mile radius to prevent external citizens from being able to change laws and process. With repeated and documented acts of potential accounting fraud, potential collusion, and potential abuse of powers, the citizens are well armed with the required proof of these injustices that have been committed to the tribal citizenship.  Laws that have been passed without the citizens’ vote or consideration have led to a closed government where there has potentially been no financial accountability, financial theft and closed election of officials that would perpetrate the crimes against the Monacan Indian Nation citizenship. State and Federal resources have been alerted to these acts, as well as requesting that a full audit be conducted to identify and rectify federal funds that have been used personally rather than for the Nation.
 
In order for the “external” and internal citizens to invoke any change, we need active members to support via signature to sponsor us.  We assure you that our intent is to rectify this situation, appropriate funds to the elderly, and to correct the current mismanagement of the tribal government with an open and fair election.  We need active member assistance to enact an emergency meeting in order to hold the officers, chief and council accountable for the potential misappropriation of funds and abuse of power.
