Momentum Mental Health, a trusted Toowoomba-based mental health service supporting adults since 1996, is facing uncertainty due to $640,000 in lost federal funding.

The Darling Downs and West Moreton Primary Health Network (PHN) has delayed announcing the outcome of a major federal mental health tender. In the meantime, Momentum has been left in limbo, with only temporary funding to operate until 31 December. No ongoing support has been provided for Toowoomba—the heart of Momentum’s work.

Every year, Momentum:

• Supports over 880 people
• Delivers 7,400+ group and one-on-one support sessions
• Provides services for 200 people on a waiting list for free, bulk-billed clinical psychology sessions
• Delivers unfunded services to people who don’t meet strict eligibility for government funding, including individuals in crisis

This is a service that works—and one our community can’t afford to lose.

Without urgent action, services will be cut, staff will be lost, and vulnerable members of our community will be left without support.
