The board of directors at the MRC (Muskingum Recreation Center) wants the commissioners to increase the real property conveyance fee in order to generate funds to help maintain their facility. This tax increase would be imposed on all residents of Muskingum County that sell a property/manufactured home regardless of their membership to the MRC. These are monies that would otherwise be allocated to the repair of bridges and roads in the county. This facility is not free to members of the community nor are members of the county offered a discount on membership based solely on their place of residence. If these funds are provided to the MRC, it would be a misuse of monies from the community. The residents of Muskingum County should not have to pay for a business that they do not use.
