We urge Molex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to stop anti-union discrimination in its manufacturing plant in Perai Industrial Zone, Penang.

Every Malaysian worker has the right to choose their own union and bargain collectively with their employer, these fundamental rights are protected by Trade Union Act 1959 and Industrial Relations Act 1967. 

Molex should respect workers’ rights and remain neutral in the secret ballot exercise, which will determine whether Electronics Industry Employees’ Union Northern Region (EIEUNR) commands the majority support of the workers.

Unfortunately, EIEUNR revealed in February 2022 that the company management had held multiple meetings with workers, threatening to cut the workers’ benefit and suspend their salary increment should they decide to vote for the union.

These acts of anti-union discrimination have violated Malaysian labour laws and international labour standards, as well as the code of conduct published by the Molex headquarter.

Since the unfair interference has caused irreversible damage and denied EIEUNR a fair opportunity to obtain the majority support, Molex should reach a peaceful settlement with the union, voluntarily give the recognition to the union and stop all forms of union busting.

Molex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd harus menghentikan diskriminasi terhadap Kesatuan sekerja dan menghormati hak pekerja

Kami menyeru Molex (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd menghentikan diskriminasi terhadap Kesatuan Sekerja di kilang pembuatannya di Zon Industri Perai, Pulau Pinang.

Setiap pekerja mempunyai hak untuk memilih Kesatuan Sekerja mereka dan berunding secara kolektif dengan majikannya. Hak-hak asasi ini dilindungi oleh Akta Kesatuan Sekerja 1959 dan Akta Perhubungan Perusahaan 1967. 

Molex harus menghormati hak pekerja dan berpendirian neutral dalam proses undi sulit, ini akan menentukan sama ada Kesatuan Sekerja Industri Elektronik Wilayah Utara (EIEUNR) mendapati sokongan majoriti pekerja-pekerja di kilang tersebut.

Malangnya, EIEUNR membongkarkan pada Februari 2022 bahawa pihak pengurusan Molex telah menganjurkan beberapa mesyuarat dengan semua pekerja, memberi amaran bahawa faedah-faedah pekerja akan dipotong, kenaikan gaji mereka akan digantung, jikalau mereka memilih kesatuan dalam undi sulit.

Tindakan diskriminasi terhadap Kesatuan ini telah melanggar undang-undang buruh Malaysia dan piawaian buruh antarabangsa, termasuknya tatakelakuan yang diterbitkan oleh ibu pejabat Molex.

Memandangkan campur tangan yang tidak adil telah menyebabkan kerosakan yang tidak dapat dipulihkan dan menafikan EIEUNR peluang yang adil untuk mendapatkan sokongan majoriti, Molex harus mencapai penyelesaian secara aman dengan kesatuan, secara sukarela memberikan pengiktirafan kepada kesatuan dan menghentikan semua bentuk kemusnahan kesatuan.
