On June 6, the Rocket City Trash Pandas baseball team is holding a "Cat Night," inviting cat owners to bring their leashed or crated cats to the game that night. While the pet supply drive benefiting Cattyshack, Inc. is a plus, this is a horrible, poorly thought out idea by someone who clearly doesn't have cats. 

Dog nights are great -- dogs are social animals and are used to going to new places and being around people and noise. Dogs can also be leashed. This doesn't apply to cats, who will be terrified, stressed, disoriented, and likely overheated in their carriers. In short, this encourages animal cruelty and irresponsible pet ownership. The Facebook comment section makes it clear that people are looking forward to something going very wrong for their own entertainment.

The Trash Pandas management should keep the theme and the pet food/supply drive, with a portion of t-shirt sale proceeds going to Cattyshack Inc., but without permitting people to endanger their cats by bringing them along.
