Our neighborhood has been plagued by regular power outages, happening on a weekly basis. Power is a fundamental need, and its consistent access is essential for our daily lives. This issue is particularly concerning considering we live in a suburban neighborhood in a developed nation; it is simply unacceptable. The current infrastructure, involving smaller power poles and outdated conductors, is inadequate and outdated. This infrastructure fails us every time the wind blows, leaving us without power for hours or even days. With climatic unpredictability and changing weather conditions, these incidents have become a pressing concern. It is therefore crucial for our local congressman, Ben Cline, and the CEO of American Electric Power (AEP), William J. “Bill” Fehrman, as well as our State Senator Christopher T. Head, and our State Delagate Chris Obenshain to intervene in this matter and ensure the power grid is modernized. This modernization should involve the implementation of taller, stronger power poles and updated conductors. This investment will not only provide security and reliability, but will also be more cost-effective in the long term, decreasing the costs associated with frequent power outages and emergency repairs. Immediate action must be taken to secure reliable electricity for our community.
