Lucia MannPetition StarterI am Sicilian-bred, born in British Colonial South Africa in the wake of WWII. I’ve been a citizen of Britain and Canada both, and have also recently applied for a U.S. Green Card because I believe I’m an American at heart. I was educated in London, England and retired from freelance journalism in 1998. After suffering from racial prejudice most of my early life because I was part Italian and part South African, I saw and felt firsthand the pain and suffering of those who were thought to be inferior because of the color of their skin. I was inspired by some true events seen through the eyes of a child to write: “RENTED SILENCE”, a revised edition of my début novel: "BESIDE AN OCEAN OF SORROW" and the sequel: “THE SICILIAN VEIL”. My mission is to end prejudice and slavery now and in the future.
