MN Frontline Worker Pay Unfair to Independant Contractors

The Issue

Governor Tim Walz has put together a bill to help those who worked during the pandemic during 2020-2021. The Frontline Worker Pay program is designed to help those who provided necessary services during these trying times. However the bill excludes independant contractors. Many food delivery service personnel are ineligible for the program because it requires that you must be employed by another. This is an unfair loophole that is being used to reduce the number of participants. Independant contractors did the same work as those employed by another. This is a discriminating practice and needs be revised now.
