For the Manchester Metropolitan University graduates of 2027 it’s been officially confirmed that our graduation will be moved to November 2027.

This change is due to the Bridgwater hall being upgraded and the university changing its graduation slot, as a result we will not be graduating at the standard time in the summer. Instead we’ll be graduating outside of the normal university graduation time frame.

Why is this a problem?  For many university students they are not local to the city and will have to travel back, find accommodation, and potentially even renew visas in order to graduate and have the same experience as previous years and other universities.

This is an unfair oversight on the part of the university and this petition aims to rectify that by requesting that the university move our graduation back to its original time, which will have been on our course advertisement and information when we initially chose this university. We have contributed work, time, and finance to the university over our time as students here and should be entitled to a graduation as good as any other, at a reasonable time, and with reasonable adjustments made to ensure it’s accessible, feasible, and reasonable for every member of this years graduating cohort to attend.
