Dear: City Council of Mitchell South Dakota,

Many of us would like to ask for your consideration to be able to have a few backyard hens. There can be regulations with not having roosters or a maximum amount of hens to have.

Over in Sioux Falls they are able to have up to 6 of them maximum. Sioux Falls is thriving with quite a few people living there and continuing to grow.

Due to the lack of many big stores and shopping facilities in Mitchell. I believe having hens would be beneficial for people spending the money in the multiple local farming stores we currently have. Keeping those stores in business, and booming. Having chickens is a great marketing tool since they do need regular expenses to keep. This way people coming back to stores for food,toys,building equipment, and much more.

Many people spend a lot of money in able to have land to be able to garden and take care of their own fowl. Having hens wouldn’t be a deterrent for new people. I would consider it an attraction of many people and many ex farmers. 

Since there is no HOA I think it will make Mitchell into a dream town for many new people out of town. 

You can not only be able to have creativity to turn your house as beautiful as you desire. Many people will be able to live out their dream to have a little mini homestead or cottage core lifestyle.
