The city has plans to bulldoze the entire East River Park and close it for
the next 3+ years in a misguided scheme to construct flood protection

We need to protect the East River from flooding again (like during
Hurricane Sandy).

The community had an amazing plan for flood protection that preserved our
park, BUT last fall the city decided they will bury the whole park with
8-10 feet of landfill and just rebuild the park on top.

Almost 1000 trees, the BBQ areas, lawns, a brand new running track, the
new path for cyclists— would all be destroyed and the park will be closed
for at least 3+ years if the city moves forward.
