less than 24 hours before the rally, on the afternoon of September 6th 2019, the parks department announced that they changed their plan and WILL NOT be installing AstroTurf at Tompkins square park. It’s no coincidence this decision was made on the eve of the protest. We organized, made our voices heard, and made a difference.  This is a huge victory for our neighborhood and community!
