Put Fitness Equipment on the East River Esplanade in A.H. Green Park

The Issue

COVID-19 has changed the way we live.  Since the spring of 2020, the East River Esplanade has become more popular than ever, especially Andrew Haswell Green Park (“AHG”) along the East River from 60th - 63rd Streets.  It has become a gym, yoga studio, daycare destination, playground, in short, an active and dynamic space.

With that in mind, Friends of the East River Esplanade ( 60th -120th Streets ) is advocating to add a small outdoor fitness area to that portion of AHG that is now under construction (known as AHG, Phase IIB), while preserving the existing plans that include a path for walking, running and bicycling, outdoor seating and green spaces.

Currently, this is the only space on the Esplanade with the width and underwater infrastructure to support a fitness area.

*Friends of the Esplanade (60t-120th Streets), Inc. is a (501)(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the improvement and revitalization of the East River waterfront.

It's time to make our outdoor public space even better. If you agree, please sign this petition.
