The average monthly pass for the MNR is about $240 and $500 for the LIRR, depending on your destination. As college students most of us attend school full-time, followed by a part-time or even a full-time job. With the rising cost of tuition and personal bills, the cost of commuting around the city is simply far too expensive. This petition was engineered by and for students, so that we may vocalize our concerns in order to reach an agreement with the Metropolitan Transit Authority to extend their student discounted tickets offered to primary and secondary students to college students.

NJ Transit  already offers up to 25% off of monthly tickets for college students commuting into New York City. Isn't it about time MTA does the same for their college students!
