Demand Accountability for Tree Vandalism in Silver Lake

Demand Accountability for Tree Vandalism in Silver Lake
The Issue
DEMANDS:
"We ask that Outfront Media be prosecuted the full extent of the law for its flagrant vandalism and be required to restore the park to its previous state by replacing the damaged and or dying trees with full grown trees of similar size and species.
SUMMARY:
Outfront Media hired an commercial vendor Troy's Tree Service to illegally "trim" the trees at the Sunset Plaza in Silver Lake without city permits, the sole purpose of which was to make their billboard across the street more visible.
The result was nothing less than an illicit hatchet job and a complete disregard for the trees, the park and the community. The slash and burn before and after photos are clear evidence of the brazen sense of entitlement which Outfront Media exhibits in its business practices. It also demonstrates their disregard for the community not to mention a lack of fear of consequences.
This lack of fear has been justified in Mitch O'Farrell's response up to this point which has amounted to neither condemnation nor specific call for legal action or adequate restitution but rather a town meeting that yielded no specific further actions despite emails to his office requesting details of his plans moving forward.
This case is far more serious than a dubious tree trimming. It demonstrates how Outfront Media who contribute to local office campaigns feel free to act with impunity at the communities expense.
We ask that Mitch O'farrell and the City Attorney Mike Feuer not merely allow Outfront Media the slap on the wrist of providing aesthetically impoverished solutions such as canopies. We ask that Outfront Media be prosecuted the full extent of the law and be required to restore the park to its previous state by replacing the damaged and or dying trees with full grown trees of similar size and species.
Thank You, The Community
