Likely you heard about President Trump caving to the NRA; he no longer supports universal background checks. After speaking with NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre the president has once again had a change of heart, parroting NRA talking points by saying we already have "very strong" background checks (which defies logic since 1 out of 5 guns is sold without a background check).

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Lead McConnell remains in hiding, even as the House announced it will return to work on new gun regulations, including an assault weapons ban.
