Senator McConnell, if there is nothing to hide, I ask you to please release your military service records immediately.

The Issue

My name is Daniel Mault.  I recently saw some disturbing information regarding US Sen. Mitch McConnell’s “military service”.  As a veteran who served in Iraq myself as well as the parent of a son who was deployed to Afghanistan, I was shocked by what I read, and I would like some answers from US Senator McConnell.  This petition is to formally ask him to release his military records, which thus far he has refused to do, and they can’t be released without his permission.

Although I am a resident of Ohio, his lack of transparency is alarming to me and should be to people all across our nation because he is currently the Minority Leader in the Senate and looks to become Majority Leader should he win a 6th term.  His decisions don’t just affect Kentuckians, his decisions do and will affect all of us in the United States.  All US citizens have a vested interest in this race - we deserve to know about this man who makes such critical decisions affecting our country.

The 5 term US Senator is currently up for re-election, and I think the people of Kentucky need his military information in order to make an informed decision as to whom they are voting for.  Why was he pulled from service after only 4 months?  He says he was discharged for optic neuritis, which is a treatable disorder, so there would have been no need for a discharge.  So why was he discharged early when everyone else was being sent to Vietnam?

Senator McConnell, if there is nothing to hide, I ask you to please release your military service records immediately. As a proud veteran you voted to send to combat and the parent of a son you voted to send to a combat, I deserve to know the truth.  We all deserve the truth.

Sincerely,

Daniel Mault
