Death is coming to the humanities at SIUE. The University Museum needs your help.
Closing this teaching museum will deprive students, scholars, and the community the ability to closely study artifacts of the past. Students will no longer have objects brought into the classrooms. Professors will have objects they are studying for research projects taken away. While the greater community of the will lose the ability to have objects brought in to elementary, secondary, and high school classrooms. The cooperative the museum has with the Edwardsville Arts Center, located at the high school, will be lost and students will no longer be able to have close personal contact with objects from the past. Scholars from around the world will no longer have the ability to visit the largest collection of Louis Sullivan artifacts.
The SIU Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for this Thursday (2/13). If possible please attend this meeting to show support for keeping the Museum open. If you are unable to attend this meeting you can show your support by expressing your concerns to the SIUE Board of Trustees Executive Secretary Misty Whittington at email@example.com . Please spread the word and help to ensure this amazing resource is not taken from the students and community.
