A serious case of child abuse and neglect has taken a very disturbing turn and action must be taken. A man, Aaron Fisher, was arrested with a no-bond text in 2009 when he was accused of sodomizing his helpless 5 month old daughter. The child was treated for internal injuries resulting from the sexual abuse, broken ribs, and a fractured skull. Both the infant and a toddler that were present in the home have been adopted out as both parents immediately gave up all parental rights. Mr. Fisher was represented by public defenders throughout the entirety of the case and after a guilty plea, which was allowed to be withdrawn, his case was dismissed by Judge Patricia Joyce of Cole County exactly one month before he was set to stand trial on two charges of forcibly sodomizing a child. He filed for a speedy trial in 2011 and remained in jail serving a four year sentence for property damage after his initial arrest. This man should be in prison serving a minimum of two life sentences without the possibility of parole. However, due to this judges terrible judgement a man deemed a danger to the community has been set free where he is able to act again. I want to bring as much attention as possible to this case so that families everywhere can remain safe and this judges terrible decision can be brought to the public eye. Let's help keep our children safe by seeing he is put back behind bars and that evil such as this isn't set free to wreak havoc on our communities in the future.
