Boycott Homophobic Madison’s Cafe of O’Fallon, MO

Lesbian couple Kendall Brown and Mindy Rackley were in the process of finalizing reservations for their rehearsal dinner at Madison’s Cafe in O’Fallon, MO when they were discriminated against.
Brown was on the phone with the restaurant when she was asked the groom’s name, when Brown informed them that she was marrying a woman she was told that the restaurant would be canceling their reservation and that their relationship was “unhealthy.”
This type of bigotry can not be tolerated. The owners Tom and Julie Kuhn should be ashamed of themselves but they stand by their decision to discriminate. They have even updated the Madison’s Cafe website to justify their actions. The page now reads:
“We believe that everything we have is a gift from God that we are to use to honor Him through our activities, events, and endeavors. In order to honor God, we will not host or facilitate any event that we believe directly contradicts our Christian principles.“
“We value the individuals, families, staff, and guests of Madison's Cafe, recognizing them as the building blocks of success for ourbusiness, the community, and our world. We embrace God-honoring events that seek to build the family. We respect each individual as a member of our global community, as created in the image and likeness of God. We believe that the Bible teaches that the only true and appropriate marriage is the union of one man and one woman, as created, and that other types of marriage are immoral. We also believe that it is our religious duty not to aid or assist others to act immorally.”
The reason for this petition is to raise awareness for what the restaurant owners did, urge patrons to boycott the restaurant and to ask that the state of Missouri add prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation to the Human Rights Act.
It’s 2019. There is no excuse for this type of bigotry. Love is Love.
