Missouri has strong state laws that ensure that citizens, reporters and charities have access to public records. But lobbyists for Big Ag are trying to strip away the Missourians' access to crucial information so factory farms can act without scrutiny.

HB 1414 has passed the legislature and is now on Governor Jay Nixon's desk.  This measure would still hide a significant amount of information that advocates for Missouri's animals, rural communities and public health need to hold factory farms accountable.

If enacted, this bill would limit access to important information about Missouri’s factory farms. This information is vital to holding factory farmers accountable for their actions and increasing transparency in their operations.

Responsible business owners and farmers have nothing to fear from a transparent system. The only way to fix problems that impact Missouri communities is to be open about them, not cover them up.
