How many lives need to be effected before a change is made? I feel like one is enough, and one is one too many. I know just in the past year more than one life has been forever altered. Through talking with people in my community it has been mentioned several times that something needs to be done, this intersection needs to be changed! I told myself on November 22, 2020 that if something could be done to make sure no other family had to go through this, I would do it - and just 6 months later another families life was forever changed. Spring and Summer of 2020 all surrounding intersections were updated to a "J Turn" which has been proven to be safer and less risky for drivers.

The intersection of 1601 Rd and 50 Highway is one of the busiest intersections in the Kingsville area - it has a Dollar General and Shell gas station conveniently placed right off of 50 highway for travelers to stop and then get right back on the highway.

I can say that changing the speed limit WOULDN'T be enough because there is no control over how fast someone is driving. Changing the construction of the intersection where drivers have to change route to do a J-Turn would be effective and more safe as proven with the other J-Turns for a daily commute. 

The change of this intersection needs to be made, people shouldn't have to fear crossing over the highway to get to the store/gas station or crossing back over to make it home to their families. My goal with this petition is that no other family has to say a final goodbye to a loved one, no other family has to endure trauma or pain that comes with an accident. It has been said time and time again that something needs to be done, this intersection is dangerous. So please, sign this petition so we as a community can help and get this change made!
