Recently, the students at Hernando High School have been notified of a state-wide change regarding the acceptance of Choir as the Physical Education credit that is required to graduate. Students who previously completed the course and are not currently in the senior class (class of 2019) have been essentially told that they wasted their time. The promised Physical Education credit is removed from their transcripts and given as a Fine Arts credit. This would be acceptable, but in order to have previously received the P.E. credit, a student would have already completed a semester of the course which would count as their singular Fine Art credit required for graduation. They were blindsided. The Mississippi Board of Education directly told a student that her opinion was less influential because she is a minor, even though the issue is directly related to her education and her future. Support this petition and spread it as far as possible. This is our future. Our time will not be wasted. Let’s show them how loud the voices of the future can be.
