Demand all MV City Councilmembers be on the November ballot

The Issue

We, Mission Viejo for Black Lives and supporters across Orange County, California, and the US demand all five members of the Mission Viejo City Council - Brian Goodell, Patricia Kelley, Wendy Bucknum, Greg Raths, and Ed Sachs - be on the ballot in the November elections.

It is an absolute abuse of power to decide which members of the City Council will and will not be on the ballot. The new two-year term limit enacted for the Mission Viejo City Council states that all five members should be up for election in November. "City officials also chose to file for a delay in updating their current voting system, which the city has admitted violates the California Voting Rights Act" (Voice of OC). By picking and choosing which members are and are not up for election, the MV City Councilmembers are using their powers as elected officials to STAY in power. This is an illiberal democracy.

We demand the ability to vote for our elected officials.

Help us demand that all five of members of the Mission Viejo City Council - Brian Goodell, Patricia Kelley, Wendy Bucknum, Greg Raths, and Ed Sachs - be on the ballot in the November elections.
